February 17 - 19, 2018
The foyer of the Manor house holds a great deal of charm and history. But the dingy white plaster walls and yellowed goldenrod trim did not give the warmth and invitation that we wanted folks visting the Manor to feel. So over President's day weekend 2018 we stocked up on moulding and paint and got to work!
The very Bland before....
The plan in the foyer was to add some soothing and inviting color and an element of glamour while maintaining the old world charm this Manor house exudes. Pristine white trim and picture box molding paired with a subtle blue-gray wall would elevate this areas beauty. Instead of repainting the old doors to the typical white, I went with dramatic black doors. I love the look of black doors as it adds another layer of elegance.
Now that the color and design was established, my daughter and I got to work on painting and cutting the moldings! Check out our working shots below, then prepare yourself for the dramatic reveal!
So more during shots!! It is amazing to watch how some paint and molding can really change a room! After a bit of practice, I have really mastered the art of the picture box molding. The key is to take your time, plan out the spacing and sizing, and make accurate cuts. If you love the gray color it is called "Steely Gray" by Sherwin Williams.
The Big Reveal!!
After 3 long days of working round the clock here is the big reveal! I still need to continue up the stairs, another project for another day!
